Every country has it's places where tourists will be far out of their league and should not go due to danger. As with anywhere if the country has a market for tourism and you are not from that country stay where the planned tourism is and use common sense you'll leave with all your body parts in tact.
Jibrill was the person who inspired me to travell to colombia back in 2015.. I stayed in santa marta Dremer hostel. Since then iv travelled back several times all over colombia. Even lived there after tge lockdown for a year. Can it get crazy.. yes. But it all depends on how your moving.
America is more dangerous than Colombia. 5 of my neighbors tried to murder me before I was 16 in Illinois. I went to Cali Colombia and heard of an American man who killed his DJ girlfriend. The locals had to warm up to trusting me. Danger is everywhere but fear is self imposed paralysis.

Colombia is beautiful and a great place to visit or live.
